Overview
Understanding Lung Disease in Children with Esophageal Atresia and Tracheomalacia
Tralulala is a national Danish research project focused on understanding respiratory complications in children born with esophageal atresia (EA) – a rare congenital malformation often accompanied by tracheomalacia (TM).
While survival and surgical outcomes have improved significantly in recent decades, many children experience long-term respiratory symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, and exercise intolerance. However, respiratory disease remains understudied in this population.
We aim to:
-
Describe the burden of respiratory disease
-
Improve our understanding of the underlying airway abnormalities
-
Develop better tools for diagnosis and follow-up
-
Guide future treatment strategies and clinical care
🧒 Centered on the child
Our research is rooted in clinical practice and designed to benefit children directly. We work closely with families, clinicians, and researchers to build a comprehensive understanding of airway disease in this vulnerable population.
